Saul Carliner, a consultant for Fredrickson Communications, moved sight-unseen to an apartment in NorthLoop from Atlanta 11/2 years ago. He's in the process of buying a RiverStation condominium, now under construction just across the street from his loft-style apartment in the Riverwalk complex. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit has a balcony and underground parking. Base price: $139,000.

Carliner loves living downtown but laments that there is no grocery store nor other services within walking distance. But theaters and other attractions are.

Annually suggest projects that would improve the quality of life for local residents, workers, and visitors
Support ongoing efforts in Brookline to build a community among its residents
Provide volunteer support for grass-roots efforts to enhance the quality of life in Brookline
If funds are available, develop uniquely urban resources for Brookline and other communities
