Chapter Summary

• The four major types of reviews are technical and editorial reviews, programming tests, and usability tests (usability tests are described in detail earlier in this book)
• Technical reviews verify accuracy of the content. They occur as part of the design phase, and after the first two drafts. They include subject matter experts, and marketing specialists, attorneys.
• Editorial reviews assess the readability of a draft, and the grammatical and stylistic accuracy of the content, and its consistency with design plans and related material content developed by others. Editorial reviews occur after each draft, and the focus becomes increasingly detailed with each edit.

Tests verify whether an online learning program works under everyday operating conditions. Tests include the functional test (whether the program works as designed), integration test (whether the program works with other programs), and load test (how many learners can be handled simultaneously, only conducted for programs run off of a server).
